There is nothing more attractive than a mouthful of pearly whites. Your teeth are very strong and can help you bite and chew for a lifetime.
But accidents do happen, and tooth enamel gets chipped away. Enamel is a hard material that forms the external portion of the the crown. Maybe you are chewing an ice cube, and a small bit of your front teeth flakes away. Otherwise, a fall from your cycle could do the same.
Sometimes the causes are beyond our control, such as bruxism – grinding teeth while sleeping due to heightened anxiety.
Tooth bonding is exceptional at repairing chipped and broken teeth. Not only does bonding bring back your smile, but it also prevents further tooth decay.
Dental bonding is an easy procedure to perform. It restores the perfect shape and silhouette to a chipped or broken tooth in no more than a single sitting.
In an alternative use, it is also used to fill in the gap between front teeth and elongate teeth slightly if necessary.
The word bond means joining. A synthetic resin is used to form a partial artificial tooth. It is a simple and painless process that does not need the application of anesthesia.
Moreover, the resin matches the color of your teeth and does not stand out. Your beautiful smile is restored in less than an hour.
In a day, you would be able to use it to chew the toughest steak, brush your teeth naturally, and not have to worry in any way.
If you are not satisfied with the result, the dentist can remove the resin in no time at all.
The process is straightforward.
At first, the dentist would assess the condition of your teeth and if you would need bonding or a veneer.
In the next step, the dentist would slightly roughen the surface of your teeth. A rough surface allows the resin to grip firmly.
The dentist next applies an intermediary liquid on the joining surface. The resin is placed over the intermediary.
In the last step, the dentist shapes the resin precisely as the matching tooth on the other side. When he is satisfied, UV rays are applied from a tiny probe that hardens the resin in no time.
There are many advantages of bonding and virtually no cons.
Affordable – It is easy to perform cosmetic work and costs very little. There is no raw material such as an implant involved and no intrusive work as happens with a root canal.
Effective – Properly done bonding can last several years. The UV rays harden the resin into a material that is as strong as the original teeth’ enamel. The only reason bonding fails is because the shape is not perfect. A slight difference might mean more pressure on one jaw, and the resin falls off after a few months.
No Side Effects – At worst, the resin surface can fall off, and the patient has the same broken tooth. There is no way for it to cause pain or discomfort either during the sitting or later.
Perfect Smile – It is unparalleled at getting superb teeth. In fact, it often works better than veneers. Since veneers are not custom made, they might not fit perfectly. Since resin is shaped like putty (while soft), it is a more bespoke solution.
It is effortless to take care of tooth bonding. There is nothing extra to do. In simple words, use the same dental hygiene practices that you would use for your regular teeth.
Brush your teeth twice a day to remove debris. Preferably once in the morning and once at night. This prevents debris from building up around your teeth and causing cavities.
The gaps between your teeth have to be cleaned using floss.
When you brush, do the same for the bonding surface. It has to be cleaned as well. Rinse your mouth with tepid warm water each day.
It helps if you use salt water to rinse since it prevents bacteria build up in plaque.
Bonding is not only safe but quite easy to maintain. In no time you would forget that a procedure was done to your teeth and use it as usual.
If, due to some reason, the resin falls off, the same can be restored by the dentist quickly.
It is difficult to eat with a chipped tooth. The worst part is as you use the damaged tooth, it starts to crumble. This happens more if you frequently eat very hot or cold items.
Once you have teeth bonding done, the problem is over. Your teeth are restored to their natural shape and size.
Not only do dentists prefer to use it for broken teeth but also to fill in gaps.
After a procedure, there would be no observable gaps between your teeth. Your smile is more attractive in the space of an hour and brings more confidence.
Before and after images of tooth bonding procedures show the vast difference it can bring about.
The cost of tooth bonding varies greatly between dental care providers. The average fee is about £250 and ranges from £250 to £400 based on the skill, expertise, and experience of the cosmetic dentist.
The materials and technology used are not very different, and the variation in cost is due to better expertise.
At Natural Smiles, we provide excellent teeth bonding procedures at very attractive prices.
Medical practitioners tend to shy away from saying ‘perfect’. But yes, tooth bonding is exceptional because it is convenient and cheap.
Compared to the investment of time and resources, the results are superb.
