Discolored or damaged teeth may affect your confidence and lower your self-esteem dramatically. For most of you, slapping tons of whitening products doesn’t quite work. We spent countless hours searching for the most convincing solution for transforming your smile.
None of them come close to using dental veneers. Dental veneers can hide uneven, chipped, and stained teeth to restore a flawless smile.
The cost of veneers depends on the procedure, the dentist, and the type of veneers. Keep reading to find out how much the entire procedure costs. Here’s all you need to know about dental veneers and how they improve your appearance.
Dental veneers are thin, shell-like, and tooth-colored attachments for the front surface of the teeth. They can be used to treat cosmetic concerns like broken, chipped, or discolored teeth. They are also preferred for making your smile delightful even.
These custom fittings are designed to correct dental damages like:
A thin wafer of porcelain is permanently bonded to a tooth to mask its shape and natural color. During the placement process, your dentist removes a small amount of enamel and places the veneers.
You can get a veneer for just one tooth or multiple teeth depending on your need. There are options for complete veneers (for the entire tooth) or partial veneer (for a part of the tooth).
Veneers tend to last for more than a decade. This will depend on the type of veneer that you choose and the aftercare you follow. These are a semi-permanent investment that significantly improves the confidence in your smile.
The most important benefit is obviously, improving the appearance of your teeth. Apart from giving you a brighter smile, dental veneers are an effective treatment for:
Resin-based composite veneers are no-prep veneers. These veneers are usually less expensive and require lesser enamel removal for preparation. Local anesthetics are seldom required for the procedure of fitting composite veneers.
Sometimes, your dentist may not require you to remove any enamel for placing composite veneers. They are also easy to replace if damaged or broken.
Traditional veneers or porcelain veneers are very strong. Thin caps of porcelain are placed on the sides and tops of the teeth during the procedure. At times your dentist will grind your tooth beyond the enamel.
The preparation process can be daunting for many and requires more intensive work than compound veneers. As the process is both irreversible and painful to go through, a local anesthetic is required for tooth preparation.
The cost of dental veneers is highly variable as several factors need to be concerned. The expertise of the dentist and the number of teeth veneers required plays a big role in the cost.
Dental veneers are considered a cosmetic procedure and are often not covered by insurance. While composite veneers cost between £200–£400 per tooth on average, porcelain veneers are priced between £500-1000 per tooth.
Although the cost may vary, based on:
Fitting dental veneers is a multi-step process. It is spread over a few appointments, but the result is definitely worth your time. Veneers are highly customized to meet your specific needs as everyone has different teeth shape and color.
A good dentist will always take into account your needs, the expressions you make, and how you smile. Temporary veneers are made out of liquid composite and then placed on your teeth. Once you’re both satisfied and comfortable, permanent veneers are placed.
The procedure for dental veneers depends on the type of veneer you choose. However, a preliminary appointment is always required irrespective of what type you choose.
Before getting veneers, a preliminary appointment is held with your dentist. There are discussions over the number of veneers and various options that are right for you. The dentist will check if you have crooked teeth and need braces before placing veneers.
The first step will be taking X-rays to evaluate your teeth’s health. Signs of gum disease, need for a root canal, or tooth decay is analyzed. If any of these conditions exist, then you may not be fit for getting veneers.
Initially, at Natural Smiles, we use Digital Smile Design to plan your smile as per your desires results. The dentist will clean, reshape, and prepare your teeth for fitting resin-based composite veneers. After preparation, the composite material is bonded and then sculpted. The color and the shape of the veneers is adjusted to appear more natural in your mouth.
The dentist will use a light to harden and dry the composite material that was placed earlier. Once the composite material is hardened, the veneers are then finished by smoothening and polishing to make them feel like real teeth.
Again, at Natural Smiles, we use Digital Smile Design to plan your smile as per your desires results. Some enamel (around 0.3mm) is removed from your teeth and an impression of the teeth is used to create a mold. The mold is sent to the lab to fabricate custom-fit porcelain veneers. As these are being prepared in the lab, your dentist will place temporary veneers on the teeth.
Unless and until the veneers comply with your requirements, they are adjusted and then finally bonded to the teeth.
Veneers are a fantastic solution for restoring your smile but tend to be very long-lasting and irreversible. It is strongly advised to consult your dentist and know about the pros and cons before getting yourself into getting veneers.
Depending on how much money you’re willing to spend and the after-care you’re willing to undertake, veneers may be worth it. They are more permanent than any other alternate solution only if you have good oral hygiene.
