A great smile speaks volumes, and white teeth are a veritable attraction.
I can’t disagree, slightly off-white teeth or yellowed teeth sometimes are a put-off.
If you are to follow an expert’s opinion, I’d suggest you go for teeth whitening. You’d likely find yourself stuck in the loop of professional teeth whitening procedure and teeth whitening kit to be used at home. Well, if the price is what’s stopping you from choosing the professional procedure, then I might as well tell you that it’s pretty much affordable. Of course, the home kit is even more economical but not that effective.
Let’s put your curiosities to rest, and answer all the FAQs that you can think of about teeth whitening.
The answer is no. It’s not costly, but of course, the cost depends on the budget you have. Home whitening kits can start as low as £10 and as high as £200. It’s up to you what you choose. But yes, the costlier the kit, the better the result. In general, home teeth whitening kits haven’t been able to deliver better results. In my experience, it often turns out that the treatment works for a couple of months, and then things are back to square one.
This is not what we want, right? Why invest peanuts and get nothing, when you can invest cashews and get something close to permanent.
The former could be achieved if you opt for a professional teeth whitening treatment. It can cost you as low as £150 and as high as £2000. It all depends on the type of staining you have on your teeth, and the kind of treatment it will require. Here’s a list of approximate prices that people these days are paying for this treatment:
The British Dental Association says, “teeth whitening is perfectly safe if carried out by a registered dental professional,” as noted by bsdht.org.uk. There could be mishaps if you try the procedures at home, or an untrained professional performs it on you. So, I’d suggest that if you have decided to get that beautiful smile, better get it correctly.
Not just in the UK, but almost everywhere in the world, teeth whitening procedures have been gaining the spotlight lately. It is primarily because of celebrity culture and reality shows. White teeth are in, and you don’t have to be left out. You can choose professionals like naturalsmiles.co.uk or many others in the country to get it done right, once and for all.
That’s a vital question, yes. The answer is simple; it will last as long as you want it to last. Don’t frown; the idea is that you have to take good dental care post the treatment. Honestly, I have seen whitening treatments last for years and some treatments lasting for one year or two. What I found was that consumption of caffeine, wine, alcohol, and smoking had a more significant impact on the treatment, negatively.
But I can’t ask you to stop drinking your favorite coffee every morning. So, I’d instead suggest that you get re-treatments after every 6 months – 1 year. It’ll cost you a little less than the initial treatment but will keep your dazzling smile forever.
First thing first, you have to choose the type of bleaching agent when you visit a professional dentist. If you need a slight change, you can opt for a lower level of bleaching agent. And if you want a drastic change, then choose a strong one. After just one whitening session, you can find your teeth 7 times whiter. It’s pretty great.
There are two main types of teeth whitening procedures that professionals undertake:
A dentist can decide the amount of peroxide to put into the gel, according to your teeth’s requirements. The percentage can range between 15% to 43%.
The procedure will begin with the dentist applying a fine layer of gel on your teeth and leaving it for 20 – 25 minutes. After suctioning off the previous layer, the dentist will repeat the process. This is done for better results. Since there’s a gel shielding your gums, there are fewer chances of you getting any sensitivity or damage post the treatment. Nevertheless, the dentist will apply double layers of a sensitivity treatment gel. It would help prevent any chances of sensitivity afterward.
I advise the dentists to apply an extra layer on the stained areas of the teeth. That helps eliminate any chances of discoloration further.
There are some shortcomings to this method. Sometimes, I see people coming back with sensitivity issues, which need follow-up sessions.
Another issue is that the dentist provides a kit for you to touch up at home. Most people fail to use it correctly and end up messing it.
The procedure will begin similar to the previous one. The dentist will apply the hydrogen peroxide gel to your teeth. And then, the dentist will aim a special light to your teeth that will begin the whitening process.
The procedure takes less than an hour, and your teeth will immediately become 6-7 shades lighter. The best part is that the process is entirely pain-free, unlike most procedures undertaken by dentists.
There’s no harm to the teeth noted by experts, and it can remove the most stubborn stains. Plus, there are no side-effects of laser treatment. The only con is that this process is the costliest method of teeth whitening.
