Turkey Teeth – All You Need To Know About It
22nd April 2022
Katie Price. Dan Osborne. Brooke Odun. What’s something the 3 celebrities have done in common? You guessed it right; I opted for Turkey teeth.
The trend is too tempting to ignore. You fly off to Turkey. A car drops you off at a swanky hotel. Another car takes you to the clinic. The treatment is done and voila, you can show off your Turkey teeth on Instagram.
Furthermore, if you wanted to get a veneer in the UK, you must pay around £5000 to £20000 depending on how many teeth you should have. However, Turkey teeth will cost you £1,500. With this type of veneer, people have more teeth damaged than they need to, which causes major problems in the future.
However, isn’t it too good to be true? Does danger lurk under the shiny surface? And what are Turkey teeth anyway? This complete guide will answer these questions and more.
In the next five minutes, the guide will discuss:
- Turkey teeth definition
- Treatment procedure
- Cost
- Pros
- Cons
- Questions to ask
What Are Turkey Teeth?

Millennials use the term ‘Turkey teeth’ to describe a dental treatment process where dentists place veneers over your teeth to make the teeth appear overly white and square. The treatment — as you can probably guess — is most famous in Turkey.
Social media influencers, YouTubers, and TikTokers have flocked to Turkey and undergone the treatment, thereby making the treatment a social media trend.
Furthermore, the cheap price tag played a part in 300,000 people flying to Turkey to get Turkey teeth.
What Does The Treatment Procedure Look Like?
- The dentist will conduct a thorough examination of your teeth, gum disease, and jaws. The process includes an X-ray and a 3D CT scan of the teeth, gums, and jaws.
- Afterwards, the dentist will inform you about the steps to take and the Turkey teeth packages. They’ll perform an implant simulation program.
- The dentist will file your teeth down into points.
- The dentist will glue the Porcelain veneers on top of the pointed teeth.
- The dentist will laser your gums.
- Furthermore, if you’re only getting your top teeth done, the dentist will whiten your lower teeth to maintain a consistent look.
The entire process takes 5 days to complete. Furthermore, you must wear a retainer for the rest of your teeth’s lifespan.
How long do Turkey teeth last?
Up to 10 years.
What Are The Associated Costs?

Turkey teeth veneer prices go up to £1,500, excluding any associated treatment needed, such as bone grafting. However, opting for veneers will set you back over £20,000 in the UK.
What Are The Benefits of Turkey Teeth?
- Cheap price: Turkish dentists charge up to £1,500 for Turkey teeth. Cosmetic dentists in the UK charge over £20,000 for implanting veneers.
- Short time span of the treatment procedure: The entire procedure of planting Turkey teeth takes 5 days. However, implanting veneers in the UK takes up to six weeks.
- Free accommodation and transportation services: Can you think of anyone who’ll say “no” to all-paid-for hotel rooms and chauffeured cars?
Are You Getting What You Paid For?

Turkish dentists promise to implant veneers on top of the teeth in the Turkey teeth treatment. However, many Turkish dentists implant crowns on the top of the teeth instead.
What’s the difference?
The practice is unethical. Furthermore, Dentists need to shave off only half a millimetre of dental enamel to plant veneers. However, dentists must shave off the teeth to little pegs to implant crowns.
The process leaves the nerves of the teeth exposed. Thus, patients experience extreme pain. Furthermore, the exposed nerves are susceptible to infections. You must opt for a root canal treatment — far more invasive and expensive — if the nerves get infected.
Furthermore, many dentists—in their hurry to finish the procedure within 5 days—offer ill-fitted veneers (or crowns). Ill-fitting veneers lead to plaque, sensitivity, and gum problems.
Furthermore, dentists often don’t blend the veneers as well. Thus, the veneers fall off the teeth within months or even weeks. Thus, you must go back for a correction.
What Are The Downsides Of The Treatment?
- Intense, long-lasting pain
- Exposed nerves susceptible to infections
- Rotting teeth
- Overly sensitive teeth make eating and talking difficult
- Ill-fitted veneers (or crowns) lead to sensitivity, plaque, and gum problems
- Poorly blended veneers (or crowns) fall off
- Gum infection — if left untreated — can spread to sinuses and even to the bones
Questions You Should Ask Before You Opt For The Treatment
Ask these questions when you’re choosing a dentist in Turkey:
- How long have Turkish dentists been conducting this procedure?
- What’s the success rate of the treatment?
- What’s the failure rate of the treatment?
- What products do Turkish dentists use to make the veneers?
- Can you find any evidence of a governing body?
When you’ve found a dentist you think is the right fit for you, ask these questions:
- What relevant degrees do they hold?
- How many years of experience do they have?
- How many patients have they treated?
- How many of those cases are successful?
- How many Turkey teeth reviews of the dentist or clinic can you find online? (Hint: trust the reviews shared on Google or Trustpilot over reviews on the website.)
- Has the dentist or clinic removed negative reviews?
After the dentist suggests Turkey teeth, ask these questions:
- Why must they opt for Turkey teeth over other treatments?
- What’s the brand of dental implants they’ll use?
- What’s the material of the veneer?
- How many visits will the treatment need?
- How long will the recovery process be?
- Will the implant come with a warranty?
Turkey Teeth — Dental Health Is More Important Than Trends
The Irish Dental Association confirmed that 75% of people who travelled to Turkey for dental work last year needed corrective work back in the UK. Furthermore, the treatment does irreversible damage to your teeth. Corrective work in the UK can range from £20000 to £50000 and not all dentists will be able to treat you
That’s why we suggest steering clear of Turkey teeth. Never compromise your dental health for a trend and a few pounds.
